The parishioners of Idlewylde United Methodist Church are involved in many outreach ministries..... as varied as the gifts of the Holy Spirit ! Here is how we are taking our light out into the world .
*Mission trip to New Orleans to rebuild homes damaged by Hurricane Katrina . This year’s mission trip scheduled for October will be to Beverly Kentucky
*Assistance Center for Towson Churches ( ACTC )- providing food and assistance to the needy
*Community Health fair - Annual event held by our parish nurse offering a multitude of health related outreach opportunities
*Lois T. Murray School - Bringing Christmas joy in our “Adopt a Student “ gift program
*The Yellow Rose Campaign - Remembering our service men and women abroad
*Charles Hickey School - The church sponsors an annual Christmas party for the young men
*Board of Child Care - A nonprofit multi-service organization serving close to 1,700 families throughout Maryland, Virginia and D.C.
*The Sky is the Limit - We support this ministry which uses music and dance to enrich the lives of the disabled.
*Kirkwood House - We participate and support weekly services at Kirkwood House a local, affordable home for the elderly.
*Gideon Society - We support the Gideon Society through financial contributions
*The House of Ruth - Donations from our annual tea support this ministry that provides shelter to battered women and their children.
*New Hope - A fellowship of friends who find themselves alone. Recently started by Julie Wernz the group meets for light refreshments and sharing of their journey. Call Julie @ 410 321- 9493 for more information
*Hugs from God - A prayer shawl ministry begun by Sandy Berl that outreaches to our church community and beyond
